2023 NFL Scouting Combine: Players Impress on Day Two
The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine is in full swing, and on Thursday and Friday, the defensive linemen and linebackers, and defensive backs respectively, showcased their talent in front of all 32 teams.[0] On Thursday, Lukas Van Ness (DE, Iowa) ran a 4.58 40-yard dash (98th percentile among defensive ends), Nolan Smith (Georgia) ran the fastest 40-yard dash of the day at 4.39, and Adetomiwa Adebawore (Northwestern) ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash with a 1.61 yard split. On Friday, Byron Young (Tennessee) ran a 4.43 40-yard dash, Will Anderson (EDGE, Alabama) ran a 4.60, and Joey Porter Jr. (Penn State) had a 10-foot-9 broad jump. Additionally, Jartavius Martin (S, Illinois) had the highest vertical of any players at the Combine, 44 inches, and Brents had an 11-foot-6 broad jump, both tied for the ninth-longest since 2003.[1] Jack Campbell (Iowa) had a 37.50″ vertical jump and a 10-foot-8 broad jump, and Moro Ojomo (DT, Texas) ran a 4.81 40-yard dash.
The Combine continues on Saturday with quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends (1 p.m. ET start time), and concludes on Sunday with running backs and offensive lineman (1 p.m. ET start time). Anthony Richardson (QB, Florida) is a dual-threat quarterback who is expected to be a raw, but intriguing, pro prospect.[2]
