Kings Win 176-175 Double OT Thriller Over Clippers; Monk and Fox Score 40+ Points

The Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings combined for the second-highest scoring game in NBA history on Friday night, as the Kings beat the Clippers 176-175 in double overtime.[0] Malik Monk led the way for the Kings with a career-high 45 points, while De'Aaron Fox had the go-ahead basket and finished with 42 points.[1] Russell Westbrook made his debut for the Clippers, scoring 17 points, 14 assists and five rebounds in 39 minutes before fouling out late in the second overtime.[2]

Kawhi Leonard scored a season-high 44 points for the Clippers and Paul George added 34 points, five assists and 10 rebounds.[3] The Clippers hit a franchise-record 26 3-pointers, while the Kings had 18.[4] The 44 combined 3-pointers tied for the most in a game in NBA history.[1]

The Kings and Clippers are tied one-to-one in the season series. The Clippers have a 5-3 record and the benefit of rest, while the Kings are 5-4 without any rest.[5] The Kings have a record of 15-13 away from home, while the Clippers have gone 15-13 when playing[6]

The Kings are 2-0 ATS against the Clippers this season, and are 31-26-1 ATS overall and 16-12 ATS on the road this season.[5] The Clippers have a record of 31-30 against the spread overall, and 13-15 against[7]

The game marked the first time in the Kings’ franchise history that two players, Monk and Fox, scored more than 40 points in the same game.[0] This is the second instance of it occurring in an NBA game this season, following a match between Cleveland's Caris LeVert and Donovan Mitchell and Boston.[8]

Despite all the discourse concerning the need for Westbrook to alter his ways and the potential changes the Clippers could make with him, the ex-MVP was rather similar when playing with his new squad.[9]

The Clippers and the Kings have split the 2 games they have played against each other, the road team winning each time.[10]

The Kings lead the betting line with +6.5 (-112). The betting trends reflect odds as of February 24, 2023 at 8:49 PM ET.[11] After a victory, the Kings have gone 0-4 Against the Spread (ATS) in their past 4 matches and have had 4 consecutive games after scoring 125 or more points.[7]
